Luigi Cazzola
(1846 -1932)

He is considered as the real founder of the Cazzola Wool Mill where he took over the management after a period of training in Switzerland and Belgium.
He introduced new processing techniques and advanced machinery in his father’s factory, which allowed the family business to reach rather remarkable industrial levels.
Technological renovation was accompanied by the structural enlargement of the wool mill, the size of which can clearly be seen in photographic surveys carried out during the first decades of the Twentieth Century.
However, Luigi’s work did not stop here; in fact, he undertook a series of initiatives in favour of his employees; he had a number of terraced houses built for the workers near the factory, he promoted the creation of the Mutual Aid Society and organised recreational activities etc.
As an anticlerical and a Crispi supporter, he participated in the political life of Schio, taking sides with the moderate group in power.
