(Valdagno 1820 - 1910)
Gaetano, son of Luigi who founded the Marzotto Wool Mill, promoted the expansion and modernisation of the large textile factory in Valdagno, located between the outskirts of the town and the Maglio di Sopra, as well as the construction of the first section of the workers dwellings, later extended and called the Margherita Village. Gaetano Marzotto created other paternalistic initiatives such as the Mutual Aid Society and the Infant Nursery institution etc. His commitment to the social aspects of company life combined with his active interest in politics, both as the Mayor of Valdagno from 1866 to 1874, and as a Member of Parliament in 1876. His interest in politics continued in later years. In 1897, having suffered bereavement of some family members, he retired to private life leaving the management of the company to his son Vittorio Emanuele.
