DOMENICO PANCIERA
(1812-1893)

He was an agrarian landowner and energetic businessman who was politically active in the Schio Town Council within the circle of Alessandro Rossi’s friends towards the end of the Eighties in the last century. He is famous for having encouraged the handicraft work in the Tretto Kaolin mines, where the ore had been exploited for the production of ceramics since ancient times.
After a family-type management of some quarries, he enlarged his workshop and succeeded in marketing the kaolin products both on a national level and in the north of Europe, in spite of the economic crises linked to the political situation concerning the unification of the nation.
