THE ROSSI WORKS IN PIEVEBELVICINO

Between 1870 and 1872, Alessandro Rossi erected a new factory(1) in Pievebelvicino destined for heavy cloth processing(2), using the structure of a pre-existing paper mill in the vicinity of the Leogra torrent, along the public road going through the built-up area. The main body(3) of the building is all that remains of the vast complex(4) which has undergone successive changes(5); this is laid out at an angle to the road and features the typical rectangular flat-arched windows with terracotta surrounds. The Hydroelectric Sub-station is a short distance away, while the twentieth-century industrial buildings rise up on the opposite side.
